How about Outliving Danger? I like Ending Danger too, though.
I think Ron is being a wuss. At least he still knows who he is, unlike Letha, and has magic, unlike Sirius! Some self pity is understandable, but there are must worse fates than being blind.

Really liked this chapter (especially the fact that no more Bad Things are happening anymore... kind of.)

I like both Seeking Danger and Ending Danger for the titles. As for my own suggestions, Surviving Danger or Past Danger might work, but it depends, I guess. *shrug*

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Into the big hat they go! And there will eventually be more Bad Things, but right now the emphasis is on getting over this string of Bad Things.

I've been so busy with school that I haven't even checked this website in a month. And then I come back during a snow day to find three chapters! It was very exciting.
They were good chapters, too. I like the possibilities that Evanie's character brings to Peter's plotlines, and I'm very hopeful that a miracle occurs and things work out for Sirius, Letha, and Ron.
Hopefully I won't be away for a month this time. I'm looking forward to the next chapter!

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Or if you are, here's hoping I can have plenty of chapters for you to read when you get back! Evanie is fun to write... now I just need to get back to her!

This was another fine segment, lots of pulling at our heartstrings, but at least a hint things might get better... eventually.

My preference among the three is Seeking Danger. The other two sound contrived. Besides, I'd rather have them seeking Danger (and I hope eventually finding her) than have her die, which is implied by "Ending Danger" or "Outliving Danger".

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Yeah, eventually's sorta the key word. But I'll try and keep it coming. I wasn't at my best coming up with these titles, I know, but thank you for not using the word "suck". I had a minor flame war with a reviewer on ff.net over that.

I am re-reading some of your earlier books now, and see how much the characters and their interactions have changed over time. Good job with that.

As for the title, since they seem to be puns on the main character's name, options 2 and 3 wouldn't make sence unless the character dies. I'll need more time to think of suggestions, but maybe you can use some word that means a peak of power? (If the choise is between these 3, I'd say either Seeking Danger or Outliving Danger, depending on whether the main character dies in the book.)

Talking about characters' fate, what is the right place to speculate about the hints we got in earlier books? Do you have a forum, or some other online community?

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Yeah, I really have learned to write through the DV. A peak of power... I think I might have one. (Suggested by a reader--you guys rock!) I have a Yahoo group, and there should be a link to it somewhere around here...

Great chapter! I loved Neville and Meaghan's conversation about his mom's comment. That was really good. And a nice twist with the jail-master bedroom. That won't be nearly as bad...particularly with Draco there!
But the best moment was the scene between Sirius and "Mare." That was just lovely.
I vote for "outliving" danger, btw. Seems like a good philosophy.

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Yeah, it still won't be fun for Harry, but he should survive it relatively intact. More "Mare" and "Prince" on the way!

Where to begin? Hmmm. You are truly spoiling us — 3 updates in three weeks! First of all, I both hate and love that it took me so long to review. I hate it because I’m afraid that you will think I don’t care (I’ve just been snowed under with RL, although I did drop everything to read this newest installment. Twice. Or maybe three times.). I love it because I am able to read all the other reviews (and your replies) and that gives me some ideas and more hints.

Of all the titles suggested, I think I like Seeking Danger and Surviving Danger the best. I don’t really like Outliving Danger because of the negative connotation for the person. Defying Danger isn’t too bad, and Living Through Danger fits right in with the first three of the DV (although the latter makes me think of Danger and Remus’ link, which is currently in abeyance).

I love, love, love the hope that the verse from Isaiah gives us. May all those things come to pass, in a form that will not cause anyone else’s death. I know to be careful what I wish for, although all that I REALLY wish is to read the next chapter, in whatever form it takes. I trust you to make it wonderful, even if it makes me cry in anguish or rage at the injustice of it all. I have hope for Ron and his future, and wonder if it was Luna who removed the spell on his door. I think Hermione needs to remind Ron how much she needs him and that she will be there for him just as he was there for her, never giving up. Teenage male pride be damned!

Just when I thought that the Dursleys couldn’t get any worse, there you go. Sometimes I wish that Curse was still active, because they deserve it. Why can’t you write us a way around the Trace for underage magic? Maybe with Draco there Harry won’t need to defend himself, but they are going too far, locking him away like that. Harry is probably thinking that the Heart of Hogwarts would be the better choice — at least there he has more options. Can he change his mind? Why is it always Harry who has to pay the price? Please let Moony get better soon! (I know I’m whinging, but it’s not fair!)

So proud of Bernie and the elflets for helping Meghan! In the long run, it will help all of them. And Snape’s reaction to the "breaking of the marriage vows" was a bit of a surprise. Guess he isn’t as hard hearted as he would like to be.

By the way, I did read The Scarlet Pimpernel. Loved it (once I got past the language of the period). I have a hard time seeing our Percy in the role, but I think he’s got the incentive to do whatever he needs to do. I know he wants revenge for what was done to Penny and to Ron. He has really grown as a character under your care.

And the song that Letha was humming is driving me crazy. I know you said it was in a recent chapter, but I have skimmed the last 5 and I must have missed it. I’ll have to carve out some more time for a more thorough rereading. You don’t have a spare Time Turner by any chance, do you? Actually, if you do, go ahead and use it yourself so that you’ll have more time to rest and write. I’ll make do — you are more important. Sorry for the epic length, but this chapter really has me worked up.

Anne B. Walsh replied:

This kind of spoiling, I think we can all live with. The kind where I blab out that I'm going to kill somebody else before FD is over... oops. And don't worry, I would never think that you don't care. Especially not after you just took such good care of me with this review! You're very right about what Hermione needs to do to Ron. Harry actually prefers the Dursleys, because he can at least see the outside, and because it's more comforting in a perverse way to be uncomfortable while he's locked up. Percy will have his own spin on the whole hero-in-disguise thing. And you were in the right set of chapters to find the song, so if you have time, do that more thorough reread! Oh yes, and never, ever apologize for an epic review. It made my home-sick-from-work day.

This is a sad chapter that is, slowly, getting better.

The memmory box is a great idea for Meghan to assemble. It should help her as well as Letha. I'm glad that Mare and Padfoot are becoming aquainted.

I think that the next story should be either 'Surviving Danger' or 'Beating Danger'. What-ever you end up calling it, I will be definately reading it.

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Oh, Mare and her "Prince" have a ways to go yet. Thank you, that's good to know!

I like Seeking Danger. I think it fits best with your current theme.
Living with Danger
Living without Danger
Dealing with Danger
Facing Danger
Seeking Danger

Nice list, and vote noted!

Over the last few months I've stopped reading a lot of fanfic as so much has become clichéd or done better by someone else, but I can't give up on this universe. =)

Fabulous job yet again.

And how about Dodging Danger? Defying Danger? (Clearly I'm on an alliteration kick tonight.)

Anne B. Walsh replied:

...wow. Thanks. Alliteration is fun. Into the hat with it!

As always, great chapter(s). Can't wait to see what will happen with Ron and Neenie. I loved Letha and Padfoot's interaction this chapter -- so touching, and yet it made me giggle as well. My mother will be so thrilled -- when I go home, I will have not one, but THREE chapters of FD to take her. Out of the 4 WIPs we follow, this is the one she asks about most frequently.

I did indeed Google the chapter title, and it makes me both hopeful and afraid to hope. I've been following for too long to ever think I know what will happen next.

As for fifth story titles... hmm... I'm really not sure. They all have their own charms. Outliving Danger stands out, simply because it feels like the completion of a circle begun with Living with Danger. Problem being, I really don't like the possible implication there. Seeking Danger feels almost like Harry and the Pack are going to go out looking for trouble, which, knowing them, they may. It doesn't feel like as much of a "conclusion-type" title, for me. As for Ending Danger, it has sort of the same feel as Outliving Danger, without being as in-your-face. I have to say I prefer 2 and 3.

Surviving Danger is an idea that just popped into my head. It conveys the sense of struggle, I think. Then again, you are the almighty author, who has all the ideas and knows where she is going with this. I merely wait in awed silence, hoping for you to grace us with the next chapter whenever your muse deems it fitting.

Thank you so much for writing a series so awesome that we've stuck with it for years.

Anne B. Walsh replied:

When're you going home? There might be four... and your title goes into the hat, though you're not the first to suggest it. I do have one I like best of all the suggestions, though, and I shall reveal it for people's thoughts at the end of Chapter 49. You're very welcome and I hope you continue to stick with it until it's finished!

Question: Can't they just use the pendant wishes/stones to restore Ron's eyes? Like with what they did to find each other and their families and such?

Anne B. Walsh replied:

It might be possible, but that's very much outside the realm of normal magic, which the other pendant things have not necessarily been. We'll see what happens.

Isaiah 61:1-2
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me,
because the LORD has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,[a]
2 to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn.

YEEEEEEEE!!! I love that passage now more than ever. YAY for the fifth story. Awesome writing for this chapter (as per usual) and my choice of the three would have to be Seeking Danger, unless you plan to include some time after the war in which case it might be better to use something like Ending Danger. Outliving Danger is my least favorite only in that it foreshadows the death of Danger during the war.Ending Danger just doesn't fit right and while I like Seeking Danger, it...implies that Harry and co. WANT to put themselves in danger whenever the opportunity presents itself.

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Well quoted. And that little (a) footnote is to say that in some translations, that word is "the blind"... hint hint. Vote noted. But are you saying Harry and company don't go looking for trouble?

The new fic's name would probably depend on if Danger is either: 1) lost, 2) dying, or 3) dead, at the end of this installment.

Anne B. Walsh replied:

True true. I may go with one suggested by another reader, which is at the same time more ambiguous and more leading...

Hello. Can I suggest "Entrancing Danger"? As in, quote:
1.: to put into a trance
2.: to carry away with delight, wonder, or rapture

The first seems pretty obvious and the second very hopeful as to the outcome.

Into the hat it goes!

Wow, nothing and nothing and nothing and then 3 chapters in a week. Spectacular. I am on the edge of my seat with all the tragedy though. I don't know how I'm going to sleep at night for the worry. I may loose my job and end up in the snow with no internet. Please keep updating :-)

I don't know if I like 'Outliving Danger' There are some scary implications there.

Anne B. Walsh replied:

I'm trying to make it a weekly thing. Not sure how well I'll keep it up but here's hoping!

Another great chapter Anne. Funny how Harry wasn't able to escape the locked door, cat-flap, and bars even with not being in the house summer after 1st year. As for the 5th installment I'll suggest Out of Danger as if this is indeed the conclusion that is what they should be by the end of it. Happy to have you back posting, now if we could just get Aaran reposting in his series also I'd once again be entirely content with the site LOL.

Anne B. Walsh replied:

I do have fun twisting canon to fit my needs. Title inserted into the hat!
