Poor Amanda. I love the backstory to why she's so upset and the bleeding soul image.

For the sake of Brit-picking, I must point out that we don't measure in cups (I've never understood how big the cup's meant to be anyway!). Danger would probably use pounds and ounces, and either fluid ounces or millilitres for liquids, depending on how she was taught. I used pounds and ounces for years until I got a good quality electric scale (which will measure ounces, grams, and liquid volumes as well - result!) either last Christmas or last birthday. We don't tend to refer to spaghetti as noodles either, though that probably depends on the person. (Yes, I am the sort of person who gets baking equipment for birthday and Christmas - I make excellent cupcakes!) And, while I'm being Brit-picky, it's hide-and-seek, not hide-and-go-seek (admittedly this is from LwD - I've spent the last three weeks re-reading the old ones and reading the new ones).
I love the Roald Dahl references at the end here, and the Amanda route looks interesting.
I especially love Percy as a Scarlet Pimpernel reference, but I admit I can't see him blathering on about clothes or kissing the ground his wife walked on... And I love Crystal.
Anne B. Walsh replied:
Brit-pick acknowledged -- I'm simply transmitting the recipe as it was given to me. A cup is approximately 1/4 of a liter. Percy's "cover" persona is a bit different than Sir Percy Blakeney's, yes, but the basic idea is the same... the secret badass everybody looks right past... mwahaha. I shall be sure to tell Crystal's counterpart you're enjoying her character when she gets home from work (and while I'm aware she may come off as a bit Mary-Sue, the real person can in fact do just about everything the character's been depicted doing!).

Wow, this is great, we have your recipe for the peanut butter sauce- I have been so curious about it ever since LWD! I am going to try it, although I am a wuss when it comes to spicy food and will probably not add the red pepper flakes... any suggestions on an alternative spice??
Anyway, enough about cooking, I love the way the matter of Luna and Draco's adventure in the Vanishing Cabinet worked out... and how close Draco is (and we are) to finding out about the mysterious Amanda. Was NOT expecting the connection to Alex Slytherin. Nifty story line about tthe curse of Slytherin- nice guy, huh?? Not to mention the also nifty tie in with the Beauvoi line... does that factor in with the AU of "Be Careful?" Could those characters somehow come into play with this?
Looking forward to the next chapter!
Erika
Anne B. Walsh replied:
You can go for a small sprinkle of any spice like cayenne, or even just a grind or two of plain black pepper. The Beauvoi characters from "Be Careful" don't exactly come into play, but you're thinking in the right direction...

Just caught up on the last three chapters - they were quite satisfying. No enormous secrecy about Harry's Potions book, for one, and most of my guessing about Amanda being right.
So is Draco in love with both Luna and Amanda?
Your recipe for peanut butter pasta sounds identical to the Indonesian peanut satay sauce our family puts on various Indonesian dishes. :) I'd suspected since you first mentioned it back in LwD.
Can't wait for the next update! I love how you twist canon so it's always new.
Anne B. Walsh replied:
Well, Draco sure thinks he is, and he ought to know.

It seems that questions are being answered. Also Slytherin was an arsehole who takes the 'Worst Father Ever' award.
Anne B. Walsh replied:
Yeah, I think you pretty much said it all right there.
