Oh Anne, This world you've created keeps me so enthralled. I can't wait for another update, though I understand life might be in the way for awhile. I have to admit, I am quite confused about the Amanda plotline. I figure it'll take me a few more read-throughs but I'll get it eventually. Thanks for being so amazing!

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Amanda's meant to be confusing at this point. I promise, it all does get sorted out in the end!

It's lucky Shakespeare was never copyrighted, isn't it? Actually, lucky for Shakespeare that plagiarism was all the rage back then too...

I love it. And I look forward to seeing how Elemental Heirs turns out, since the characters and universe will be rather different...

Anne B. Walsh replied:

The Great Copier, one of my teachers used to call him. The universe may be different, but I think you'll recognize some of the characters...

For the sake of Brit-picking, I must point out that we don't measure in cups (I've never understood how big the cup's meant to be anyway!). Danger would probably use pounds and ounces, and either fluid ounces or millilitres for liquids, depending on how she was taught. I used pounds and ounces for years until I got a good quality electric scale (which will measure ounces, grams, and liquid volumes as well - result!) either last Christmas or last birthday. We don't tend to refer to spaghetti as noodles either, though that probably depends on the person. (Yes, I am the sort of person who gets baking equipment for birthday and Christmas - I make excellent cupcakes!) And, while I'm being Brit-picky, it's hide-and-seek, not hide-and-go-seek (admittedly this is from LwD - I've spent the last three weeks re-reading the old ones and reading the new ones).

I love the Roald Dahl references at the end here, and the Amanda route looks interesting.

I especially love Percy as a Scarlet Pimpernel reference, but I admit I can't see him blathering on about clothes or kissing the ground his wife walked on... And I love Crystal.

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Brit-pick acknowledged -- I'm simply transmitting the recipe as it was given to me. A cup is approximately 1/4 of a liter. Percy's "cover" persona is a bit different than Sir Percy Blakeney's, yes, but the basic idea is the same... the secret badass everybody looks right past... mwahaha. I shall be sure to tell Crystal's counterpart you're enjoying her character when she gets home from work (and while I'm aware she may come off as a bit Mary-Sue, the real person can in fact do just about everything the character's been depicted doing!).

Already reviewed, but just bousght a Widow in waiting, and I can;t wait fot the next book in the series, as even though grace and thunder are settled, their story is by no means over yet as I can see that such two strong and hot tempered people have to learn about compromose as they begin their life together, no matter of the love that they share.

cheers

S

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Oh, absolutely. They both have to learn to bend a little, and it's not natural to either of them...

So after my exams were finally over, I was eager to start on Chapter 3 of Surpassing Danger...well that didn't work since I started missremembering details and imputing events that never happened from other stories. So I did the sensible thing and started from the beginning. After 4 weeks and endless sleepless night I have now gotten this far again. And let me say the Dangerverse is still as great and alive as I remember it from my previous read-throughs. You have truely created an amazing work.

Congratulations also on your book will buy myself a copy soon (stupid paycheck taking so long).

So now to Surpassing Danger: It's great. It's fantastic. I love it and well done. I still have my suspicions about what will really happen to Draco (since we all know nothing is ever as it seems) but that is for the future. Amanda is a great character, although I prefer Luna. I hope she will be alright. Sanctuary is coming allong nicely and that together with the Red Sheperts help schould improve their chances in the war. I hope Letha and Sirius will be allright. I cried again, when I read over how Letha became Mare. Poor her. Evanie and Peter is weird. On one hand I am used to hating Peter but on the other I can't hate him anymore, not with how he treats his wife. I just hope that everything turns out alright, even though I still think Peter will never be able to make up his mistakes from the past. I agree with Megan, I miss Hagrid too. Wonder what happened to Norberta and Gwarp.

Off to read the next chapter. Hope your book sells well and good fortune for the future.

Forgive me for not having much to say -- i wanted to make sure I could use this correctly. I love the lightheartedness of this chapter, and fear it's about to be contrasted starkly as Voldemort makes his presence known.

Snape's dress robes must be subtle in ther richness. What does that mean? Hmmm...

I'm recommending AWIW to all my reader friends, as it is great summer reading.

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Well, it's not his robes that Harry was seeing... it was something else.

That was awesome! I loved the costumes, the pranks, the ice-carving, everything!

Anne B. Walsh replied:

I had such fun writing it.

Always happy to get a new chapter of Danger. I hope, there is no drama coming along, they always do at Halloween....

Bought AWiW and will gladly read it in my vacations!

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Nope, no drama this time. Just fun. Drama is on the way though!

Let me check that I've got this right - the the costumes of poeple you have mentioned at the ball, and before

Pride

Harry and Ginny as the Wolf and Red Riding Hood

Ron and Hermione as Jogn Steed and Emma Peel

Draco and Luna as Fantast Mr Fox and Matilda Wormwood

Neville and Meghan as listed

Sirius and Aletha as Radames and Aida from Aida

Prof McGonagall as listed

dumbledore as Gandalf

is seamus indiana jones (with the fedora hat)

dean and lindz i don't get

selena is easy as bo peed but how does cowboy rodger relate

snape as vampiric dracula (I assume)

percy as the scarlet pimpernel

fred ,george and crustal and homicidial maniacs

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Nicely done on almost all points. Seamus is dressed as Kermit the Frog (thus his comment about finding a Miss Piggy). Dean is a West Ham football player (since we know from canon he's a fan) and Lindz is therefore one of their fangirls. Selena and Roger are a nod to "Toy Story" and Crystal's comment about being a homicidal maniac is also a quote from "The Addams Family". I think that should be everybody!

It was a fabulous chapter, as always :) But just let me get all excited about *OMGOMGOMGOMG* Elemental Heirs! Romeo and Juliet with a twist, hurray!

Anne B. Walsh replied:

More twist than R&J, actually. With lots of DV.

I brought A Widow in Waiting . Looking forward to reading it at some point soon, once I'm finished with my last couple of class assignments. Romance isn't my preferred story type, but if it's as good as this chapter and your fanfics in general, I'm sure I'll like it.

Anne B. Walsh replied:

I hope you're enjoying the story!

Another good chapter. THank you. But...

Wand, quill, parchment? Okay, quill writes on parchment, parchment covers wand... but what does wand do to quill?

And "LC"? If that's Lily, I think it should be LE. You'd be unlikely to make a mistake like that, so what am I missing?

Anne B. Walsh replied:

LC stands for Lily Cecilia. And wand enchants quill, of course.

Yay!!!!!! this was a lovely surprise to come home to after my second last exam! as usual i loved every word! and taking from the semi superhero theme of the avengers could Neville be Dr X from xmen? that's who i first think of with the wheelchair... Can't wait for everything that you've got planned... slug potion... halloween ball... amanda (how ever her story ends im sure it will surprise me) buying the ebook of a widow in waiting tomorrow! can't wait!!!!

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Nicely done with Neville's costume!

"The Mysterious Ripping Sound". Really, did you HAVE to? Because all I can think now is "Snape, Snape, Severus Snape..." (runs off to amazon by way of Youtube)

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Yes, yes, I did have to. Mwahaha.

Milarqui posted a comment on Wednesday 13th June 2012 1:40pm

So... If I am not mistaken, Ron and Hermione are going as the main characters of The Avengers (British Avengers) and Neville is going to be someone that uses a wheelchair... Professor Charles Xavier?

Either way, this chapter was real fun, and I liked it a lot.

BTW, I could totally see Harry and Ginny going as Cyclops and Jean Grey. If you throw in a few shout outs to Mutant Storm, it would be funny, too.

Can't wait for the next chapter!

Milarqui

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Well done on all counts with the costumes! Couldn't resist having Harry be the Big Bad Wolf, though.

Hee hee....I just love Peeves! Can't wait to start Widow in Waiting! Looking forward to the Halloween ball....and the quidditch match!

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Peeves is such a brat. But he's fun to write.

Another awesome chapter! And awesome news! I like all the little (and not so little) references in this chapter. :D

Anne B. Walsh replied:

You know me. I love me some references.

Wow, this is great, we have your recipe for the peanut butter sauce- I have been so curious about it ever since LWD! I am going to try it, although I am a wuss when it comes to spicy food and will probably not add the red pepper flakes... any suggestions on an alternative spice??

Anyway, enough about cooking, I love the way the matter of Luna and Draco's adventure in the Vanishing Cabinet worked out... and how close Draco is (and we are) to finding out about the mysterious Amanda. Was NOT expecting the connection to Alex Slytherin. Nifty story line about tthe curse of Slytherin- nice guy, huh?? Not to mention the also nifty tie in with the Beauvoi line... does that factor in with the AU of "Be Careful?" Could those characters somehow come into play with this?

Looking forward to the next chapter!

Erika

Anne B. Walsh replied:

You can go for a small sprinkle of any spice like cayenne, or even just a grind or two of plain black pepper. The Beauvoi characters from "Be Careful" don't exactly come into play, but you're thinking in the right direction...

Bialystoker posted a comment on Sunday 10th June 2012 8:46pm

Just caught up on the last three chapters - they were quite satisfying. No enormous secrecy about Harry's Potions book, for one, and most of my guessing about Amanda being right.

So is Draco in love with both Luna and Amanda?

Your recipe for peanut butter pasta sounds identical to the Indonesian peanut satay sauce our family puts on various Indonesian dishes. :) I'd suspected since you first mentioned it back in LwD.

Can't wait for the next update! I love how you twist canon so it's always new.

Anne B. Walsh replied:

Well, Draco sure thinks he is, and he ought to know.
